Off To The Airport - NOT!
The drama of my car actually started yesterday afternoon when Dolly and I were heading to the Vet! Nothing alarming - just her annual checkup and injections. (Dolly: it was alarming to ME!!).
The car wouldn't start. So we quickly walked to the Vet (in the rain) which we JUST had time to do. When we got back I called my breakdown or recovery service. It took almost 5 hours for them to get to me, arriving at about 930pm. Why? Because the guy coming to 'rescue' me had a breakdown himself! Ya can't make this stuff up!
Anyway, he got it started but warned me that it may not start again in the morning and he wouldn't recommend me driving it any distance today before getting it looked at properly by my mechanics. He predicted it would be a fuel filter or fuel pump problem.
So sure enough - it wouldn't start this morning, so I wasn't even able to drive it myself to my local mechanics. So here they are, taking it away. Very efficient service - they came within about half an hour of me calling. Arriving at the same time was Dolly's dogsitter, who had already agreed to pick her up (as she so kindly often does), AND take me to the airport. Thankfully I wasn't actually off on a trip today, but instead had a day of classroom training. Getting home was also easy, thanks to the kindness of a colleague who lives nearby but still went out of her way to drop me off at Maidenhead so I could take the train 1 stop to home.
I'm so thankful for helpful friends, a good breakdown service (even though!) and my efficient mechanics! Although I don't quite know yet what's wrong with it!
