Thrush, blackbirds, silvereyes and sparrows made short work of eating the flesh of two apple halves nailed to this tree trunk.

Being wild birds they were all perfect for the Wild Wednesday challenge hosted by Cailleach, but the thrush is the featured bird, caught pausing for a moment.

How can I tell you all how I felt on waking this morning and finding yesterday’s ‘Supermoon and Janie Seddon’ glowing with hearts, stars and wonderful comments and now sitting in number one spot on the popular pages. Please accept a special and heartfelt thank you.

Nature can be violent and cause devastation, but she can be beautiful and serene too.

Where I live, we are a quite a distance from the quake and escaped damage and for that I am extremely thankful. Kaikoura is still isolated and evacuation of tourists continues - today by air and sea.
This earthquake has been upgraded to magnitude 7.8. It now equals the 1929 Murchison quake, the 1931 Napier quake and the 2009 Fiordland quake in severity.

Statistic: We are told Kaikoura has 2080 residents and at the time of the quake there were more than 1000 tourists visiting.
