Stopped Opposite the Shipyard

11.3C and mostly bright. Plenty of sun. Light cloud around. Moderate WNW/W/WSW breeze.

After lunch Maeve and I went for the repeat of our usual morning walking route across the road and round to the park and the harbour and back along through town. MILA was taking on wind turbine tower sections. One was being hoisted on board as we walked along. More were arriving in convoys of low loaders and escort vehicles. Ayress was at the other side of the new quay taking on wood. Most of the fishing boats were away from their moorings.

Once Maeve was back home and settled I got my car and drove along to the little car park by the milestone on the Kilkerran road which is marked with one mile to Campbeltown. Capercaillie (Delirium then The Blood is Strong) on the Clip. From there I walked out Kilkerran road past the 68 mile marker on the Kintyre Way then the Goldsmith's house and studio to the NATO jetty at Glenramskill and the Doirlinn and along the road past Davaar House then round Kildalloig Bay until I reached the 70 mile marker out towards New Orleans. I could see a few fishing boats out at sea beyond Davaar island, and I saw plenty of Herons and Oystercatchers as I went along.

I was sheltered most of the way from the breeze. On the way back I noticed the 2 miles to Campbeltown milestone just by the Doirlinn car park. I can't remember if I have noticed it before. It needs a coat of white paint and the lettering needs black paint. It is very faint.

As I was walking along I could see H&AMPS PRUDENCE, a Netherlands flagged cargo ship, coming in through the channel. By the time I got back past the Goldsmith's house she was stopped opposite the shipyard. Waiting for a berth at the new quay probably.

Afternoon music ... Van Morrison, Astral Weeks and Avalon Sunset.
