Thank you everyone for your kind comments yesterday.
Dave got home eventually last night, the road was re-open for a few hours.

Things are a lot calmer here in Christchurch today, but the people of Kaikoura and visiting tourists there are the ones that are still needing help.
The Government has bought in helicopters and has started evacuating people to Christchurch.

I know the safety of the animals in the area is not as high priority, but the picture of the three cattle stuck in an 'island of grass' made me sad.... and then today it was said that they were rescued by the farmer who owned them!
