Celebrations continue

We had a leisurely breakfast at our swish hotel - eggs Benedict and Bucks Fizz no less, then headed off south of the river to Suffolk.

I hadn't slept well so put Mariella Fostrup's dulcet tones on the Book Programme and next thing I knew we were passing Cambridge. Oh dear, does this mean now I'm 70 I need an afternoon nap?!

We lived in Suffolk for 20 years before moving back to Northumberland on retirement, so we have ties there we miss. My closest friend there is Carole - we met on a CND bus. She taught at the local high school and was our daughters' English teacher. She very kindly suggested hosting a little party for me, which will be tomorrow. Not only that, she asked our mutual friends Steve and Aled up from Wales to stay as well. They hid - "Not in the cupboard, dear", said Aled. "We came out of the closet years ago". We had such a good night. I slept like a log!

This is our hosts, Carole, and her partner David.
