Moving books
What a grey, damp day. Cleaning and trying to clear the living room of the piles of books that have accumulated. Now there are far fewer books there, but they have just appeared in piles elsewhere! Oh dear!
And here is a delightful book, just published – We Found a Hat by Jon Klassen. This is the third book about a hat by the same author. This one is still a favourite with the girls, especially the four year old.
The main wonder of these books is that the pictures tell as much of the story as the text and so the child comments, and often knows more than reader, because they have interpreted the picture.
Two turtles find a hat and they love this hat, but eventually, because there are two of them and only one hat -
There is only one thing to do.
We must leave the hat here
And forget that we found it.
But do they forget it? How much this picture says that doesn’t need words.
If you have a little one to buy for, grab a copy of this whilst it is still in hardback. It will be read and talked about and loved for a long time.
Thinking of people in New Zealand and the scary time they have been going through. This is where Blip comes into its own. One can read about such events, but to have someone you know describe it first-hand, is so very different.
