Protea magnifica...

...and indeed she is, the queen protea also known as queen sugarbush, woolly-bearded protea and the wolbaardsuikerbos (which I think covers all the options of woolly, bearded, sugar and bush!)

The woolly flower head is up to 150mm in diameter and these beauties certainly were that size, the floral bracts glowing creamy pink and rosy red in the sunshine.
