Silvereye on the flax
Life goes on for the birds despite the aftershocks we keep getting.
Major earthquakes on the East Coast of the South Island the worst hit being Kaikoura. Here in Motueka we were shaken awake at two minutes past midnight and it went on for a good minute and a half. Aftershocks till 2am when I went back to sleep. We have been very lucky with no damage just an interruption to daily life. Many local schools closed as did some businesses.
Wellington hard hit as well as Blenheim and Picton and Nelson too I believe. We have spent most of the day watching TV reports, ringing people and being rung to check on them.Checking on neighbours too.
They said to stay home so we did. I did go for a physio appointment but otherwise it was stay put.
The little silvereyes have been an entertainment and now it is raining again. No super moon for us tonight.
Thankyou for good wishes you have sent. All the best to other blippers who may have been affected.
