A day forever etched on my heart
Today I met the Compassion child I sponsor, Daisler, and his mother, Maria.
The big surprise for me was that they arrived at our hotel to ride to the beach with us, rather than meeting us at the beach, an hour away.
The big surprise for Daisler ( pronounced Dice - la) was that hubby was not with me, but he saw another man in our group was wearing a name tag with hubby's name. So the boy was confused, because that man sure did not look like the pictures we had sent him. But he recognized me and was satisfied. And he sends his greetings to hubby.
This was Daisler's first time seeing the ocean. What a treat! After his initial fear of the waves melted away, we couldn't keep him away. He found an empty bottle and filled it with sand and water to take home!
These are just some of the doings of our 7 hours together, but the heart connection that took place can't be described. Suffice it say that we said goodbye with many hugs and tears. And he gave me a piggy bank he had made so that I could save my money to come back to see him again. And I said I would.
