Papilio glaucus ~ Swallowtail

I deadheaded my butterfly bush about two weeks ago which allowed for lots of secondary blooms which are smaller in size, but are still highly attractive to the butterflies and bees. I was very happy when my visiting girlfriend spotted the swallowtail because it meant the blip for the day was in the bag!

She also made me laugh when she said " Michele, there's a little black and white bird on your back porch." I took a quick peek to see the female downey woodpecker pecking away at the suet feeder I'd left on the table! She spotted us spying on her but she didn't fly away.

It's a nice way to begin the weekend and I hope you all have a lovely one too!
