Barley

It has been a day of two halves: raining and non-raining. After a thoroughly soggy morning put paid to most of my outdoor plans I decided to retreat to the cinema after lunch and there I saw 'The Bourne Legacy'. Better than I expected and no disgrace to the first three films...When I emerged blinking into the light, the drizzly downpour had finally stopped and I found myself, a little unexpectedly, walking through a muggy summer's evening.
Just round the corner from the local fleapit is this eye-catching sculpture. It's called 'Barley' and stands here to mark the fact that the building was once a brewery.When I was (quite) little I used to walk past this site every day on my way to school. There was no being chauffeured to school in an armour-plated SUV back then: I walked!
