Planet Fungi

As my local photography shop was having a "tripod event", I thought I would have a trip into town to get myself the tripod head I'd been promising myself to go with my recent purchase of a nice tripod. Mission accomplished! I also bought myself some sturdy winter boots - so that should ensure another mild winter. 
I tried out the tripod and head with my macro lens mounted to get a close-up of a beech mast casing which is covered in tiny cup fungi. I brought it home from yesterday's outing. Is there a corner of the planet that fungi don't inhabit? I doubt it!
