Russian Realism ~ Peredvishniki

Went to see the paintings made by Russian painters in the late 19th century ~ gigantic pieces often that were on show in Russia then as to bring arts to the people. Having the common folks as subject in the painting, showing them to the commoners as well.

Added 2 in the extra's: a painting by Nikolay Gogdanov-Belski from 1895 = Sunday Reading at Village School
+ painting by Konstantin Savastski from 1882 = Suspicious People

so many to choose from, do marvel the Russian painter Ilya Repin of whom various pieces are shown (the backdrop painting of the couple in the rolling seawaves is one of his) and the threesome in hiding in almost no boat would be regarded nowadays as dangerous terrorists rather than suspicious people
