Proud of himself
Today was all about the Inter House Poetry Competition. Last year our house, Jupiter, won. Carys represented Year Four and recited The Naming of Cats. This year it was Will's turn to represent his house as a Year Two. He recited 'What can you do with a Football?' by James Carter. I was privileged, as a governor, to be able to watch.
Years 2-5 were represented with one child per house per year group. They all did really well. It must be quite daunting to stand in front of the whole school and recite a poem off by heart. I was proud of W as he was loud and clear and remembered his actions.
After some deliberation Jupiter retained their title much to the happiness of W. He was beaming by this point. Then the head said "We weren't sure that we would award an individual prize, so this will be awarded on Monday, but the judges unanimously agreed that the best individual was Will." At that point I thought he would burst. He looked so proud, but not in an over the top or unpleasant way, just rightly chuffed with himself. His sister looked pretty chuffed too.
