A Day at Conowingo Dam

Conowingo Dam is part of of the Exelon Corporation Hydroelectric plant and is located in the very northeastern corner of Maryland (right near PA and DE).  When energy is produced, the hydroelectric plant releases water, and fish and eels get washed through.  During that time, the critters are stunned and make for easy pickings for the birds waiting on the other side.

Dozens of American Bald Eagles call this home between late October - January.  There are also Blue Heron, Cormorant, Seagulls, and tons of vultures.

There were only about a dozen Eagles today and they would come out sporadically to fish and then fly away for long periods of time.

After four hours, I got two fairly decent pictures and called it a day.  See today's extra photos for the "other" photo.

I hope to get back here again in the next month.
