Anas platyrhynchos (Wild Duck) a.k.a Mallard
Caught before the rain came. The Drake(Male) Mallard, a good looking chap with his green head gets plenty of attention. Today the duck (female) gets the lime light. She is lovely, brown speckled plumage with a burst of colour, a distinct iridescent purple blue speculum feathers edged with white.
A group of Mallards flying is called a Sord.
They are considered the most abundant duck on the planet.
