Doing A Lot Of Nothing

I have started a bit of turning that I have been putting off for quite a while.
There is a bit burr Elm which has been sitting in the garage for years and I have not had the courage to mount it on the lathe until now.
It is a reasonable size and extremely out of balance  due to the uneven thickness.
Turning it to round and doing the outside is going to be the easy bit - the rest is going to be the dangerous bit (and this has been scary enough!).

When dropping off Squirrel at gymnastics I saw that there were new signs around the industrial estate.
The old ones had the company names painted on the boards at the entrance to the various 'squares' where they wee situated.
I always thought a bit daft as it meant a major operation for replacing or repainting the signs everytime a unit changed hands.
So all the new boards -- have the names stuck on as individual letters in good, old fashioned 'sticky backed plastic' ..... which will either peel off after the weather gets to them, or be an expensive pain in the backside to have new ones cut and stuck up.
Corporate uniformity 1 ----- Common Sense 0.

Other pictures from the dog walking are StepsMushrooms (2 more shots if you rummage), Blue Berries and Concrete Barriers (in the middle of nowhere).

Camera club was one of the committee's holiday snaps from Venice.
I feel decidedly seasick............ He really needs to learn how to get the horizon straight and his verticals vertical.
