I had an annoying missive from the Irish hire car people saying that I was being charged a fine for not paying a toll on the M50 last month. It may have taken some time to reach me, due to them having written our street address, then Leith, then Aberdeen!! No post code, either. Well done, those posties. Anyway, I wasted a considerable amount of time locating the receipt for the e-payment I had in fact made for the toll in question which I sent to them, along with a flea to pass on for the ear of the e-toll-people.

Then in the evening we got an email with sad news about one of our close neighbours at the allotment. The sender had mixed up the names of the couple in question, so we assumed that C had passed away, as he's had inoperable cancer for some time now. But a later email corrected this - it was his wife who has died. We found that there was a small amount of the 10.89 left with which we were able to toast her memory.
