Autumn at the chateau
Tuesday
I met a church friend in Fontainebleau for coffee followed by a light lunch. I hadn't seen her to talk to for several weeks, as we have both been away at different times, so it was good to catch up. After lunch, I headed to the grounds of the chateau for my daily walk. As I started out, it began to rain, but fortunately it didn't last long, and as I walked we actually began to get odd glimpses of sun, even though the sky remained predominantly grey, leading to some beautiful light conditions. The gardeners were out in force, some blowing leaves off the paths, and others beginning to dig out the plants from the flower borders. As I was driving through the village, they were also busy there, taking the hanging baskets down from the roundabout. Always sad to see the flowers disappearing until next Spring - winter is definitely on its way!
