Koos no. 2

Took a break today. I was kicked out of my desk by our bookkeeper. Decided to go walk around the Coos Bay Boardwalk. There is this cool tugboat on display there, the Koos no 2. Here is a bit of history about it....

"Koos No. 2 was the second of several tugboats with the Koos name to work for the Knutson Towboat Company. Built in 1924 by Frank Lowe at his Marshfield shipyard, Koos No. 2 went to work with her sister tug Koos.
The original Koos was used as a travel boat by the Simpson family to get from their estate at Shore Acres to the Coos Bay waterfront. The Koos No. 2 was retired in 1987 and donated to the community by the Knutson Towboat Company."

Kind of interesting. Louis Simpson was a pioneer timber baron and had built an estate that is now a state park called Shore Acres out on Cape Arago. There have been a few photos of the park and surrounding area on blip. It is an amazing place to see!

So. There it is. A little local Coos Bay Oregon history :)
I like how I was able to capture the flying American flag in the porthole window

Had a pretty bad day at the store :( where was everybody today??

The weather was interesting. Nice and sunny and not too windy. As usual, there was a band of fog over the coast but tonight it circled around us leaving us in the center with blue sky and sunshine. It was strange. I guess I missed an AWESOME sunrise this morning...booo...a couple people told me it was the strangest sight ever. Like a scene out of a sci-fi movie. I really need to set my alarm for earlier. And, not only that, when it goes off I need to get myself out of bed!! I'm missing out!! :)

Hope everyone is having a nice week
Happy Thursday
