Un cadeau de la nature

There are many signs that Xmas is coming.  The shelves of garden centres cleared of all things horticultural and replaced with all things sparkly and festive.  Cinnamon fragrance in stores.  Piped pop tunes attempting to induce festive spirits.  It is all a bit tortuous.

One sign up here is the short rasps of chainsaws coming from the hills.  Workers are moving through death rows cutting down trees for the Xmas market.  They are destined for France and they have been prepared by the attachment of labels coloured according to size.  Today it was the yellow labels (1 - 1.5m).

Shortly they will be gathered, netted, stacked and transported from South Lanarkshire, Scotland to central France.  Eight weeks from Xmas Day.  The wonders of globilisation.
