Jumping for joy

These local teenagers were celebrating something special and I managed to capture the moment they jumped for joy at Gyeongbokgung (Gyeongbok Palace). It was the first royal palace built during the Joseon Dynasty and was the centre of the dynasty's political, economic and cultural affairs.

Gyeongbokgung was built three years after the Joseon Dynasty was founded in 1395 and is the largest of the Five Grand Palaces. It was built by King Taejo, the first king and the founder of the Joseon Dynasty. The palace was located at the heart of the newly appointed capital of Seoul (then known as Hanyang) and represented the sovereignty of the Joseon Dynasty.
