Celebrity SIka
Today we were taken to RSPB Arne on our Birding Break. Again, we were very lucky with the weather; it was glorious for most of the day with just one brief cloudy spell in the afternoon. The reserve at Arne was the venue for Autumnwatch this year, so combining that with the fact that it was a sunny Sunday meant that it was pretty busy, but it is a large area, so it can absorb a lot of visitors. It is a very beautiful place with some wonderful landscapes, and we saw some of the attractions mentioned on Autumnwatch, including close to 30 Spoonbills (quite far away) and a number of SIka Deer stags, surprisingly close up. We counted 88 bird species as a group for the 2 days of our wildlife break, so it would be nice if we could spot a few more tomorrow and Tuesday, as we are having a couple of extra days on our own down here in Dorset before returning home.
