Torta Caprese

After enjoying the delicious cakes set out for breakfast at our hotel in Sorrento I had to have a go at making one of these.

My mother in law found some plastic cake decorating doilies from the 1970s lurking in the back of a cupboard so offered them to me a few weeks ago.

They were perfect for this cake.
