Golden and Glorious
Slept well but woken up before 8...as nextdoors dog was doing his fruit whilst their new front door was being installed ;-/
I rang mum to wish her a happy birthday before we walked to town , so much colder than of late. We called into the butchers for braising steak for dinner....resisted the temptation to go for coffee and went back home. I made us one when we got in instead.
Today's blip is literally the path round by St. Oswalds Church at the top of town, still, looking remarkably autumnal.......but the leaves were tumbling and blowing so don't think this scene will last much longer.
After coffee, We had eggs for lunch, mine fried on crumpets, hubs scrambled on toast.
Then I set about making a Thai massaman curry using the steak, with onions, potatoes, curry paste, coconut milk, chilli, lime leaves, fish sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon and roasted peanuts. Cooked in the oven slowly for a couple of hours or more, served with sticky rice.....and even if I say so myself, it turned out rather well :-)))
We did some more leaf collecting, cutting back and general tidying in the garden this afternoon. Youngest and his wife called in to borrow our leaf blower for their garden, on the way back from visiting my mum for her birthday. They took her out for lunch, which she thoroughly enjoyed by all accounts :-)
After dinner we considered going out for a walk to see some fireworks but decided to stay put and watched Strictly instead ;-)
Hope everyone's had a safe bonfire night and hat it's not too misty and murky in the morning :-/
