Herdwick lamb
This beautiful Herdwick lamb is on her way to the Isle of Mull tonight. She's part of a small flock that M is going to look after. I also fell in love with a Herdwick ram.
A beautiful, cold morning and we drove through colourful trees to Strathpeffer where we had a look at the Food and craft Fair before heading for the Dingwall Mart. Treshnish had sent us a text to say they had finished their bidding and we met outside the entrance. Great to finally meet and we enjoyed a fun hour and a half looking at the animals and chatting over a cuppa.I was tempted to come away with a few ducks and chickens. They all looked wonderful and well cared for, all shapes, sizes and colours. Treshnish explained how the system worked and we watched as a man walked round with a sign standing next to the lots up for sale. A crowd gather at the front and bid in a variety of ways. Not sure how they follow the auctioneer as it all seems very fast ! I could have spent hours tucked in a corner taking photos of the characters there.
We also met S and M and her friend. So lovely to be able to talk face and face and we could have talked for soo much longer. Hopefully the late ferry will still be running as several crossings have been cancelled because of strong winds.
It's not windy here but really chilly and we have the first coating of snow on the tops :)
Saw this poem earlier and it made we smile
A Scottish Winter poem
It's Winter here in Scotland
And the icy breezes blow
at seventy miles an hour
& at 20 degrees below
Aye, I love my Scotland
When the snow is up yer butt
Ye take a breath o'winter air
and yer nostrils just freeze shut !
Aye the weather here is wonderful
so I guess 'll stick around
I could never leave my Scotland
Cause I'm frozen tae the ground !
