Yesterday Italy celebrated Armed Forces and National Unity Day which celebrates the signing of an armistice between Italy and Austria-Hungary at the end of World War One. In Radda-in-Chianti there is a little exhibition on Italy's role in WW1. One of the panels was about Count Francesco Baracca, a flying ace, who died somewhere in the Alps shortly before the armistice was agreed. His personal emblem of a prancing black horse became the symbol for Ferrari.
