Penguin Days

This afternoon S was one of the featured poets at the launch of the NZ Poetry Society's annual collection. Her poem 'Penguin Days' was awarded second prize, and the title was chosen by the editor of the anthology as the title for the book. She read that poem, and was later asked to read three others that she had submitted as two were highly commended and the third commended by the judges. All three are also in the collection.

Reader: S
Book: Penguin Days
Refreshment: Lipton Yellow Label Tea
Place: Toi Poneke Art Centre (Wellington)

Afterwards, friends collected us and took us to their home for a celebratory meal. The Wellington City Council put on a great fireworks display in the harbour, which were able to watch from their position high in the hills of Ngaio. The display was for Guy Fawkes, not for S.
