Traditional and modern

A day of wandering around a few of Kyoto's more than 1000 temples. The extra is of Nanzenji temple. I really liked a tiny temple in the forest on the side of the mountain above Nanzenji. Sadly, the nightingale floor in the Chionin temple is closed for renovation.

I've seen more women in Kimonos today than I've seen in the rest of my time in Japan. It seems to be popular for Japanese visitors to Kyoto to wear their Kimono (or hire one) to visit the temples. These two were taking a lot of selfies!
