Blackbird

Three cheers for the blackbird!
If any bird in our garden deserves applause it is this little chap! He has sung his heart out this summer,(?) the beautiful songs echoing round and been an absolute joy!

Last year the nest was raided by five magpies who worked as a team like orca whales in a pincer movement, pillaging all our nests. It was tragic but this year the blackbirds chose the shrubs on the patio. Two fledged but one unfortunately flew into the windows biting the dust; however there is still a baby. I say baby but it is huge and nearly the same size as dad who is bouncing around feeding his offspring at a terrific rate. I'm putting more food on the floor to help out the shuttle service backwards and forwards to the chick hidden in the bushes. I do like the way he tilts his head when looking down. Very cute and appealing!

He doesn't seem to be having any help from the female at the moment either!
