Enough time to stop
In dappled shade, twinkling blades of grass glistening, I strolled along, happy. The sweetest of touches from a jovial breeze swayed the hanging branches and made delicate rustling sounds. A pair of Blackbirds rustled through fallen leaves like a brace of overworked clerks.
From darkness to light, deep shade giving the most solid of backgrounds to anything hit by the sunlight, holding out 'objects ordinaire' to be seen in sharp relief. The sound of the cars nearby deadened by the trees and their waving branches, the soft wet grass and damp misty air.
From underneath this verdant canopy, hidden away from the rest of the world, I take a little time to smell the earth....on the brightest of mornings when Summer will truly visit....Autumn is laying just beneath. The moist air between the trees gives rise to those closeted aromas, simply waiting.
Soon....Dearest Autumn, most loved of the seasons for me, will cast her spell and bring all those marvellous colours and airs. Until then let Summer Reign!
