Celtic Knot

I did not make this -- I only wish I were that skilled. It was made by my friend Jerry in the woodworkers' club. He's the guy who helped me with the butterfly keys on my live edge coffee table.

The inlay is made up of about fifty pieces, and looks three-dimensional. This effect is achieved by selectively charring the pieces to simulate shadows. It's the centerpiece of a coffee table base -- see the extra. Not shown is the glass table top.

Jerry made this to donate to a charity fundraising auction. Not only is he a master craftsman, he also gives generously of his time and talent. I made my first box in a class that he taught. I'm lucky to know him!
