AP Psychology Photo Journal #3
1. What is going on in this photo?
This is a picture of my two dogs(Juma and Sylar), having a fight in the middle of the room. The bigger dog is attacking whereas the little dog is beginning to back up.
2. How is it related to a specific Psychology concept from this unit?
This relates to the two functions of the amygdala, fear and aggression. As you can see in the picture, the bigger dog represents aggression which is most likely coming from stimulation in the dog's amygdala. The smaller dog is showing fear which is also most likely coming from stimulation in another part of the amygdala. Soon after this the smaller dog began to attack as well. This represents how stimulation in different parts of the amygdala can produce both fear and aggression.
3. Link the image to one of the perspectives of psychology with an explanation of how it relates.
This photo most closely relates to the biological aspect of psychology. It is the biological aspect because it represents how the amygdala(a part of the brain) influences behavior in the dogs.
