Winter Visitors.
I was spoiled for choice with today's blip! During the morning I was pottering around home, periodically counting the birds in the garden as I do for the BTO Garden Birdwatch. There was an unusual amount of activity around the Crab Apple and Hawthorn. On checking more closely there were 6 Blackbirds unusual but not terribly exciting. Then I spotted the 4 Fieldfares. We sometimes get one in the garden in hard weather, never before 4 in any weather. Soon after that a Redwing paid a short visit. Then just to round off the morning nicely we had the first Brambling of the season.
In the afternoon Clickychick and I went to Lowther Castle for a wander round the grounds. Beautiful sunshine, lovely autumn colour and the castle well lit by the afternoon sun. Lots of great captures but For me the winter visitors were the days highlights.
