Star trails

A first attempt at star trails. I want to try this out somewhere a bit more photogenic (and darker) than my garden, but I clearly need to work on my technique a little first. I took 60 30-second images, and then put them together with StarStax.

Anyway, some interesting revelations from just this feeble first attempt.
1. Focusing is a nightmare, even with a Bahtinov filter (http://www.lonelyspeck.com/sharpstar-faq/)
2. It's surprising how far the stars move in just 30 minutes
3. A lot of planes fly over here!

I'll play with it some more before I try it out at Chesterton or Burton Dasset (which I think should both work well)
