Under floodlights

No clearer indicator of the nights drawing in after the clocks go back than turning up at Meadowbank for the regular Monday night game and the floodlights are already on. More or less the same teams for the third week but this time we started badly. Okay, we scored the first goal of the game but then had something of a defensive nightmare as they scored five in quick succession. We slowly, slowly clawed our way back to parity and even briefly into the lead, only to fall two behind again with time running out. We scrambled a couple of goals only to concede the winner with the the very last kick of the game. The three goals I scored myself thereby felt a little flat although, on reflection, the closeness of the game only illustrated how well we must have played the last two weeks so maybe not all that bad after all.
