Day 2 - Pilgrimage

Last night we were awoken by a house fire near our accommodation. At 2 am, we were called to come round and help out. 

The house was very much ablaze. It was far enough away not to be a safety hazard for our pilgrims, but we needed to monitor it and be prepared to evacuate if necessary. The poor people have lost their house entirely. Mr B and another pilgrim provided the father with some clothes and boots, since they had left in a hurry and he was only wearing what he'd been sleeping in.

We went back to sleep for an hour or so and then were up again to get organised for the day.

We had a few more eventful moments, which kept the day interesting, but managed to safely get the pilgrims to their next night's accommodation (we had 30 seconds to spare, since our permit only allows us to be on the road from 7 am to 7 pm!).

We liked this shot. It shows most of the places we go through on the pilgrimage.
