OAPs

Asyr and Flash have been pals since Flash moved here in autumn 2003. Asyr is himself 31, Flash the reverse, 13. Both have their aches and pains but still go through the rituals. When it's time to come in, Flash dashes out to the field, circles Asyr a few times and then dips down to act as though he is going to nip at the rear heels. Asyr then slowly walks to the stable and in to his stall to eat his food, followed by Flash who eagerly waits under the food trough for anything that may fall out.

Then in the winter when the stalls are full of straw and he will be staying in for the night. Asyr goes to the middle, spreads his legs, and "pees". I shouldn't admit this but we put a bucket under him and he dutifully fills it. Then Flash moves in and licks a certain part before it disappears back inside it's covering!!! And then Flash comes and wants a kiss and a cuddle from us for being such a brave, talented herding Border Collie. One can tell Asyr is killing himself with laughter as he only comes in because of the food and certainly not because of Flash.

It has been another fantastic day and so Asyr and his two colleagues will be staying out at night for the time being. If we are lucky at least another two days of dry sunny weather, without a frost. Frosted grass is not good being full of sugar.

I spent the day cutting back bushes in the garden. As I want to rethink a certain part, cut a rambling rose right back which is not a good thing for flowers next year. Worse though was the huge amount of rose hips which will be composted. I would so have loved to have harvested them and given them to the local farm shop to sell - seems such a shame. I have already made as much rose hip jelly as I can cope with.

Angie took some lovely photos which I have shown as extras. Not sure what she wants on her Blip.
