Vine Growing
Lanzarote produces some very nice local wines. The vines are grown without support and ramble over the ground protected by a low wall of volcanic rock. Apparently the black gravelly earth is porous and collects the morning dew which it releases during the day the water migrates down the pit in which the vine is grown. I've added another picture where this can be seen more clearly. I'm amazed how such challenging growing conditions have been overcome.
