East is East
It was a glorious commute into work this morning along the Old Stirling Road. Hard to believe that this, not too long ago, used to be the main road, jam-packed with lorries full of whisky trundling out of the nearby whisky bond and traffic whizzing between the two counties. How we managed to negotiate all of that on two wheels and survive intact seems difficult to imagine looking at it now. Thankfully all of that traffic is over the hedge on the left and on a much more capable road now.
As I pedalled along I noticed my shadow was leading nicely out in front along the white lines and stopped to look back at the perfect alignment of the sun. It all felt a bit stonehenge-ish so snapped it.
Heading back home was a different story, slogging into a gale relentlessly (the wind never blows from the east through here) for 6 miles with half an Apple store strapped on my back. Was passed by three skinny wheeled speedsters, the third of which called out as he drew alongside, "It's a bit windy, isn't it?", to which I could only reply "Fuurrrq... pllip... plrrrr". He started pedalling faster after that.
At least the rain stayed off.
