A Casual Sashay
We visited Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge today. It was established in 1965 to provide vital habitat for wintering waterfowl whose nesting areas were severely impacted by the 1964 Alaska earthquake. This magnitude 9.2 quake was the most powerful earthquake recorded in North America and also caused a tsunami.
We saw a wide variety of birds, a few deer and even some nutria. The extra is a photo of a nutria with big orange teeth!
The rain ceased and by later afternoon it was a lovely fall day at the refuge.
