The Abbey Cloisters

I had to go into town (Bury St Edmunds) this am for the rest of my Xmas prezzies, after running the gauntlet of shoppers who I am convinced had no direction or purpose as to their presence in the shops apart from topping up their plastic, I felt the need to escape to a place of quiet and reflection.
I found the Abbey; I have always used this beautiful place as a sanctuary after braving the shops and town centre, I was not disappointed, a Christmas carol service was coming to an end and it made me stop and think of what Christmas was really about; it is not about what do I need, or have I spent enough on X, it is about something special that happened some time ago that has a bearing on all of our lives.
