Lots of Holly Berries (hard winter?)

Is it one of those myths - that there are lots of autumn berries ahead of a hard winter?

I think that in the case of my holly tree, it's simply a question of maturity. This holly appeared in the garden a few years ago (gifted by a bird most likely) and produced just a handful of these glorious berries in 2015.There are hundreds of them this year.
