A Family Affair
The old Mountain Ash had to come down...
We've been putting it off for a few years, saying we will, and then the berries come (despite the state of the tree generally). And so we don't.
This time, we are getting round to sorting the front out, after sorting the back last year, if you recall. So we called Tom, the tree surgeon (and Russell's mate) to do the dirty. As it happened, after it came down, the core and root were rotten right through.
Jeff (Russell's dad) is bringing his JCB to rive out the stumps and clear the ground back to basics. Dave (Russell's uncle) is going to build us a new wall like the one he's just done for Russell (his and hers walls...).
Then we need to ponder layout, gravel, border in the middle, Indian stone along the house front. Thinking caps on until after Christmas some time.
(Dave: "Are you OK into the New Year?"... R: "Dave, through Bathstore experiences, we have patience aplenty"...).
Whatever happens though, we are going to replace the tree. Probably with a new Mountain Ash and build everything around it.
