Wisdom of the ages....

"Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis"   - Times change and we change with them.


Ovid didn't write that, it seems, though he often gets the blame.  In fact, it isn't Classical Latin at all.   So you wouldn't have heard it from the lips of the Senators padding along the stone paths of the Forum.  


But with Brexit, and Calais, and Trump, and Nationalism, and neo anti-Semitism, and.....   I'm fearing that the sentiment is altogether true.    We are getting harsher once more.   


My old Spanish teacher (with the misplaced name of Mr Marcantonio) used to say that every generation slowly created the conditions that made it possible for old men and women to embrace leaving it.........
