Chestnuts

This is being the most fantastic autumn for chestnuts.  The mature sweet chestnut trees on the Green are bursting with the fattest loveliest crop both on the trees and bouncing to the ground.  I've seen several people out with large bags - normally it's just us and the squirrels - but there's enough for everyone to roast chestnuts between now and Christmas.  Gorgeous!

Apart from this, I saw my old gent today who was very sweet but had several problems we talked through together.  Also he is trying to learn
They will not grow old, as we that are left shall grow old..
to say at an Armistice Day event.  I'm his prompt in the wings - eek!
