The Station Master

We finally left home late this morning to travel to Stirling. Alnwick seemed a good place to stop for lunch and as we drove in I remembered that the food was good at Barter Books.

Barter Books is one of the largest second hand book stores in Britain and its home is the old railway station at Alnwick. The gentleman in the painting over the fireplace is John Patterson who was Station Master from 1882 to 1902.
