"My heart goes giddy up....."

After every medical appointment Harvey gives me a ‘lollipop’ like you get at the dentist for being a good girl! I’ve had some lovely lollipops over the last five years, but today’s has to stand out as the best. Lunch at Bailiffscourt Hotel in Climping. Beautiful contemporary English cooking, atmospheric surroundings and lovely grounds leading down to the beach.

A long tree lined drive brings you to the cluster of buildings which make up the hotel. Gothic mullioned windows, 15thC  beams and tapestry hung walls.

BUT …… the building is a fantasy, an ideal, a caprice, built in the 1930’s from ancient materials, at great cost to satisfy Lord Moyne, descended from the great Guinness family. In its 30 acres of parkland, it certainly looks and feels the part. I can recommend it for very special occasions [unless you have a voucher like we had].
