Almost There...So Grateful
It is still raining and I had to say goodbye to Matt and run off to the new dentist this morning. He's not exactly Mr Personality but he seems to know what he's doing and his staff is pleasant. Best of all, he is ten minutes away. I have to go back next week for a small filling and laser therapy, whatever that is.
Since we do not live within the city limits of Santa Rosa, we vote by mail. My ballot has arrived, and it occurred to me as I waded through the official sample ballots (225 pages in the state one alone) that, in all the absurdity of this campaign, even I have sometimes lost track of the fact that this is a historic election, not because if all the posturing, fear mongering and vitriol in the Republican side, but because Hillary Clinton is on the verge of shattering the highest and most shatterproof glass ceiling of them all and it hasn't been easy.
Mrs. Clinton has kept her poise and stayed on message despite the clamorous sound and fury of her opponent's eruption campaign. She has faced scrutiny that men never do...what was she wearing? Was she "shrill" as opposed to "bold"? Did she smile enough? Some say she is not "likeable", Trump muttered that she was "such a nasty woman" in the last debate, but being President of the United States is not a personality contest, and if Hillary Clinton wins on November 8, it will be because she does her homework, she's sharp, aggressive and poised, and she's brought out the women voters. If she is elected, parents will be able to tell their daughters that there is nothing they cannot achieve.
