Floodlit
Not quite the excitement of three weeks ago, but at least the floodlights lasted the full match at Guiseley tonight.
Gateshead were the visitors and seeing as I used to live there I'd usually have a soft spot for "The Heed" too, but Guiseley need every point they can muster so loyalties were firmly with the Lions tonight.
Hopes were raised when Guiseley took the lead early in the second half through a Simon Walton penalty, but a soft goal conceded from a long throw in the 86th minute meant it was to be one point instead of three.
Relations between the two sets of players deteriorated in the last few minutes and the referee showed little interest in trying to cool things down. Instead, yellow and red cards were dispensed freely after the final whistle, a disappointing end to the match.
One point was enough for Guiseley to move off the bottom of the table, but two of the other bottom six teams won so there's still a lot of catching up to do before their recent upturn in form can lift them out of the relegation places.
